Why interns are essential to The Well Worn’s slow fashion studio
We’re thrilled to introduce Milly Toombes, our wonderful fashion intern who recently graduated with a 2:1 in BA Fashion Design from the University of Southampton – Winchester School of Art. Milly has been interning with us this year while completing her final collection, and we couldn’t be prouder of everything she’s achieved.
Last week, we had the privilege of watching her graduate fashion collection hit the runway at Winchester’s historic Great Hall — a breathtaking backdrop for a bold and brilliant showcase of her work.
Milly’s label, HAY 93, blends 1970s rock nostalgia with sustainable fashion design, reworking vintage silhouettes into modern statement pieces. Her collection celebrated character, individuality and circular values — everything we stand for at The Well Worn.

Why Internships Matter in the Sustainable Fashion Industry
At The Well Worn, we’re proud to be a British sustainable fashion brand built on creativity, collaboration and care. Interns like Milly aren’t just here to assist — they co-create with us. They bring energy, fresh thinking, and a deep understanding of the challenges and possibilities facing the future of fashion.
Whether it’s learning to pattern-cut using deadstock fabric, preparing looks for a photo shoot, or helping customers in-store at our Winchester pop-up, our interns become an integral part of how we work.
Supporting early career designers is a key part of our mission — and something we believe every ethical brand should embrace. It's not only good for people, it's good for the planet, too. A new generation of fashion designers is reimagining the industry, with sustainability baked in from day one.
