Bold taupe and white stripe jerssey top with visible Sashiko stitching in ecru. Medium weight cotton jersey fabric. Garment measures chest 39”.
The art of mending to prolong the life of a garment or object is at the heart of what we do. In our Winchester studio we use a mix of Sashiko and Boro techniques. Sashiko stitch is an antidote to the fast fashion world. It is used to reinforce points of wear on a garment and to repair worn places or tears with patches - creating Boro. The running stitch is also used for decorative purposes. Textiles stitched and repaired in this way can be said to embrace the concept of ‘Wabi Sabi'.
Hand-selected vintage and pre-loved clothing which has been stitched, patched, mended and repaired in our Winchester studio by Emma. Reworked Vintage given a new lease of life.
